In 2017, 3.9 percent of the senior population (238,000 seniors) was believed to be living in poverty. To maintain their quality of life, many seniors rely on registered charities for basic needs like meals, transportation, housing, senior centre activities and so much more. GIVE65, the signature program of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation of Canada, is an online giving platform committed to honouring all seniors and their aging journey by partnering with registered charities to inspire greater charitable giving in support of seniors.
Through the GIVE65 Event, a 65-hour online giving event held in July, registered charities rally their communities to raise funds, recruit volunteers and increase awareness for senior-focused programs and services that are giving seniors hope! The Foundation’s GIVE65 Incentive Fund provides matching and bonus grants to incentivize giving. At GIVE65.ca, donations of $10 or more help seniors in need of food, shelter, transportation, senior centre activities and so much more! Visit GIVE65.ca to learn more!
The Be a Santa to a Senior program was established in 2003 with the intent to spread holiday cheer to isolated seniors who might not receive a gift or a visit from a family member during the holiday season. Since then, hundreds of thousands of seniors have benefited from a wrapped gift or a friendly visit during a season that can be lonely. The Foundation can assist in establishing and vetting partnerships with senior-focused registered charities in your community.
